Brighton ska, reggae, dub and punk band Dakka Skanks are heading across the UK this September, including a London show at The Garage, as they prepare to release new single I See Fire and forthcoming album The Game. Here are five things to know.
1. Dakka Skanks are playing seven UK dates this September
The band have announced a short run of shows across England and Scotland:
4 September – Mr Wolfs, Bristol
5 September – The Garage, London, with King Prawn
11 September – Half Drunk Club at The Firebug, Leicester
19 September – Hope & Ruin, Brighton
24 September – The Crescent Community, York
25 September – Stramash, Edinburgh
26 September – Room 2, Glasgow
For London fans, the 5 September show at The Garage is the key date, with fellow ska-punk favourites King Prawn also on the bill.
2. New single I See Fire arrives on 18 September
Dakka Skanks will release I See Fire on 18 September 2026.
The song tackles the pressure of modern life, from disappearing pay cheques and rising bills to the exhaustion of working all week and trying to find a little freedom at the weekend.
It is delivered through the band’s familiar mixture of ska, reggae, dub and punk, combining upbeat rhythms with socially conscious lyrics.
3. A new Dakka Skanks album is on the way
I See Fire is one of a series of tracks leading towards the band’s forthcoming album The Game.
The record has been created independently after fans helped Dakka Skanks raise an impressive £25,000 through crowdfunding in just two weeks.
The album also sees the band working with five-time Grammy Award-winning producer Steve Dub.
4. Expect a high-energy live show
Fronted by vocalist Clara Wageli-Byrne, Dakka Skanks have built a following around energetic live performances and music influenced by Jamaican rhythms, punk and dub.
