Greg Freeman has released his new single “Cahokia”, the opening track from his forthcoming album All Set The Bone, out on 2 October 2026 via Transgressive/Canvasback. The Vermont-born songwriter has also announced a run of US, UK and European tour dates.
1. “Cahokia” is the first taste of the new album
“Cahokia” opens All Set The Bone and sets the tone for the record. Freeman takes inspiration from the historic Cahokia civilisation near the Mississippi River, using its rise and disappearance as a way to explore modern anxieties around consumerism, politics and the environment.
2. All Set The Bone arrives in October 2026
Freeman’s new album will be released on 2 October through Transgressive/Canvasback. Across 13 tracks, it moves between personal stories, political unease, grief and a recurring sense of time running out.
3. The sound stretches well beyond straightforward indie rock
Fans of Pavement, early Modest Mouse, Fugazi and Unwound may recognise some of the influences, but Freeman mixes them with psych-rock, piano, brass, heavier guitars and unexpected changes of direction. The album was produced by John Congleton.
4. Greg Freeman is heading out on tour
Freeman’s 2026 tour begins in Europe with appearances in Paris, Eindhoven and Vlieland before moving across North America during October and November. Dates include New York, Washington DC, Chicago, Toronto, Seattle, San Francisco and Austin.
5. The album features a wide group of collaborators
Long-time collaborators Garrett Linck and Sam Atallah return, joined by musicians including Joey Sullivan of Florry, Carney Hemler of The Rockin Worms, Anna McClellan and Trinity Ace. The result is Freeman’s most expansive record yet, built around experimentation rather than playing it safe.
