5 Things to Know About the New EPIC by Vue Screen in Islington

London film fans have something big to celebrate—literally. Vue has officially launched its first EPIC by Vue screen in the capital, bringing next-generation visuals and sound to its Islington venue. Here are the top five things you need to know about this brand-new cinematic upgrade.

1. It’s the First EPIC Screen in London

Vue Islington is now home to London’s very first EPIC by Vue screen, marking a major milestone in Vue’s rollout of the format across the UK. After successful installations in two other venues, the capital finally gets its turn—perfect timing for a packed year of blockbuster releases.

2. It’s Now the Biggest Screen in the Venue

If you love large-format cinema, this one’s for you. The EPIC screen is officially the biggest at Vue Islington, designed to enhance immersion for everything from fantasy epics to action spectacles. It’s not just large—it’s purpose-built for premium viewing.

3. Stunning HDR 4K Laser Projection

The new screen uses HDR By Barco 4K laser projection, a major upgrade compared to standard cinema projectors. Expect:

  • Higher brightness
  • Richer contrast
  • Deeper blacks
  • A wider, more vibrant colour range

Simply put, it’s designed to make films look incredible. Perfect for seeing upcoming releases like Wicked: For Good or Avatar: Fire and Ash exactly as the filmmakers intended.

4. Fully Immersive Dolby Atmos Sound

Visuals aren’t the only thing getting an upgrade. EPIC by Vue features Dolby Atmos, which creates a fully three-dimensional audio experience. Sound doesn’t just hit you from the front—it moves around you, above you, and through the room, making every scene feel more alive.

5. More EPIC Screens Are on the Way

According to Vue’s General Manager Narinder Shergill, Islington is the third UK venue to install an EPIC screen, with four more locations due to follow by the end of the year. It’s part of Vue’s mission to bring the “very latest in big screen technology” to as many film lovers as possible.

EPIC by Vue screenings are now available to book at myvue.com. If you’re ready to level up your cinema trips, this might just become your new favourite screen.
