James Campbell – the original pioneer of stand-up comedy for children – is back with a brand new live show for 2025: Comedy 4 Kids: Reducks! Expect exploding penguins, seventeen ways to eat jam, and songs to sing to the worms in your dog’s bottom. Here are five things to know about the comedy show guaranteed to have kids and adults alike in stitches.

1. James Campbell Is the Godfather of Kids’ Comedy
Since 2001, James Campbell has been touring schools, libraries, theatres and festivals worldwide, bringing clever, original stand-up to young audiences. He was the first to brand his shows as “Comedy 4 Kids” – and he’s still the best. James’ shows are packed with laughs, surreal silliness, and unexpected wisdom. His unique ability to entertain children without ever patronising them has made him a firm family favourite.
2. The New Show: Comedy 4 Kids: Reducks!
Comedy 4 Kids: Reducks! promises to be twice as funny as anything you’ve seen before. According to James: “Cover yourself in glue, roll around in glitter for five minutes and then come to the show shouting, ‘I’m a massive disco maggot!’ until someone asks you to leave.” It’s classic Campbell nonsense – and exactly what we all need.
3. Where You Can See It – 2025 Tour Dates
The new show is touring across the UK in 2025, including appearances at the Brighton Fringe and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Confirmed dates so far include:
- 3 May – The Corn Hall, Diss
- 4–5 May – Komedia, Brighton (Brighton Fringe)
- 11–17 August – Gilded Balloon Patter House (Edinburgh Festival Fringe) – tickets on sale soon
- 25–26 October – Museum of Comedy, London
More dates are to be announced, so keep checking the official website for updates.
4. James Is Also a Bestselling Author
James Campbell isn’t just a comedian – he’s also the author of funny, clever books for kids. His titles include Boyface, the hilarious Funny Life series, and the eco-themed Don’t Panic: We CAN Save the Planet. His latest book, Daphne and the Marmalade Cow, shows off his unique blend of silliness and storytelling once again. If your child loves to laugh, chances are they’ve read something by James.
5. He Lives Off-Grid and Invented His Own Job
James lives in a field somewhere between Colchester and Ipswich, where he’s building a food forest and parenting his children – all while writing, touring, and dreaming up new stories. He famously started his comedy career after handwriting letters to 100 schools, offering to tell stories to their pupils. Since then, he’s performed internationally – from Melbourne to New York – and built an entire genre of children’s comedy from scratch.
Comedy 4 Kids: Reducks! is recommended for ages 6+ and runs approximately 60 minutes. It’s produced by Denise Silvey for Cahoots Theatre Company.
