The 2024 RHS Chelsea Flower Show will feature a stunning tradestand by Hartley Botanic, showcasing their largest structure ever presented at Chelsea, highlighting a growing demand for grand Victorian Glasshouses. This year’s theme, “Simple Elegance – A Traditional English Garden,” celebrates the opulence and beauty of Victorian-era gardens.

The Magnificent Victorian Manor Glasshouse
A Grand Showcase
Hartley Botanic will unveil their largest structure ever displayed at Chelsea: the Victorian Manor Glasshouse. Powder-coated in a new matt black finish, this grand Glasshouse features integrated cold frames and sits on a charming Cotswold stone dwarf wall. Reflecting a trend towards larger, more luxurious Victorian-style Glasshouses, this 8.146m long and 4.128m wide structure caters to both growing and lifestyle uses, with an internal partition creating a dining area.
Victorian Opulence in Bloom
The planting scheme around the Victorian Manor pays homage to the era’s fascination with exotic plants. Visitors will marvel at the lush display of palms, ferns, and citruses, evoking the grandeur and luxury of Victorian Glasshouse collections.
Introducing Hartley Botanic’s New Water Butts
Elegant and Functional Design
Hartley Botanic is launching a new range of elegantly designed aluminium water butts, available in large (167-litre) and small (88-litre) sizes. These stylish water storage solutions can be powder coated to match any Hartley Botanic Glasshouse, combining practicality with refined aesthetics. The new water butts address contemporary sustainability concerns while enhancing garden elegance.
On Display
At the tradestand, the large water butt in matching matt black will be displayed alongside the Victorian Manor, while the smaller, bronze-coloured water butt will accompany the Wisley 8 Grow and Store Greenhouse.
Diverse Greenhouse Offerings
Opus Glasshouse: Modern Elegance
The Opus Glasshouse, part of Hartley Botanic’s Modern Horticulture Range, will be showcased in dark bronze. This contemporary structure features expansive glass-to-ground windows, maximising light and architectural styling. Inside, vibrant orchids and complementary non-flowering plants create a tropical journey for visitors.
Wisley 8 Grow and Store Greenhouse: Heritage Charm
A classic design, the Wisley 8 Grow and Store Greenhouse is displayed in bronze. This practical structure includes a partitioned storage area and is filled with homegrown plants such as pelargoniums, cut flowers, and vegetable seedlings. Edible crops, including heritage varieties, highlight the growing trend of heirloom seeds among Greenhouse owners.
Patio Glasshouse: Compact and Versatile
Hartley Botanic’s smallest structure, the Patio Glasshouse, is presented in a new matt forest green. Despite its compact size of just 0.735m wide, it offers substantial growing benefits. The tradestand Patio Glasshouse is filled with delicate alpine primulas, perfect for starting a Victorian-style plant collection in small spaces.
Celebrating Victorian English Gardens
Timeless Design and Planting
The tradestand’s design by Rachel Sampson, built and planted by Stewart Landscape Construction, draws inspiration from the elegant Victorian English gardens. The scheme incorporates formal hedges, topiary, and feature trees, with pathways leading to each Glasshouse. The planting is reminiscent of a traditional cottage garden, with roses, foxgloves, and a mix of perennials and shrubs creating an abundant display of colour and texture.
Hartley Botanic’s Enduring Legacy
Tom Barry, CEO of Hartley Botanic, emphasises the enduring appeal of their Greenhouses: “Our customers often aspire to create an elegant and traditional garden aesthetic. Hartley Botanic’s Greenhouses, especially those in our Victorian range, help them achieve this vision with structures built to last a lifetime.”
The 2024 RHS Chelsea Flower Show offers a glimpse into the timeless elegance of Victorian English gardens through Hartley Botanic’s magnificent tradestand.
