Fancy a taste of the Caribbean as the nights draw in? Social media chef Xavskitchen is teaming up with Feels Like June, the restaurant at TRIBE London Canary Wharf, for a one-night-only supper club. Here are five reasons to book.
1. A chef with a huge following
Xavier Bramble, better known as Xavskitchen, has more than 1.5 million followers across social media. He’s built a loyal audience through approachable recipes and a real passion for cooking. Earlier this year he released his cookbook, Stews, which celebrates the comforting, generous side of stew-based cooking. This supper club is a rare chance to taste his food in person.
2. Inspired by travel and Caribbean cooking
Xavier’s love of Caribbean cuisine has grown through travelling and cooking alongside local communities. He’s learned the stories, techniques and traditions behind each dish, and that’s what this menu celebrates. Expect bold, vibrant flavours and the kind of food that’s meant to bring people together around the table. It’s perfect for a cold November night.
3. A generous sharing feast
The three-course menu starts with Ital Stew Peas and Cream of Callaloo. The main is a sharing-style feast of Goat Water, Stewed Oxtail and Cuban Ropa Vieja, served with coconut pumpkin rice, steamed white rice, lime cabbage slaw and Jonny Cakes. Dessert is a sweet finish called JUNO. It’s a lot of food for £45 a head.
4. Meet the chefs
Both Xavier and Feels Like June’s head chef, Tribor Pista, will be there on the night. They’ll talk about the dishes and the inspiration behind the collaboration. It’s a more personal experience than a normal restaurant meal, and a great chance to ask questions about the recipes. Fans of the cookbook will love it.
5. One night only
The supper club takes place on Friday 27 November, with two sittings at 6pm and 8pm. With such a big following behind Xavier, it’s likely to sell out quickly. It would make a great pre-Christmas night out with friends, or a treat for a foodie partner. Book early to avoid disappointment.
