5 Reasons to Book A Christmas Carol: The Pantomime at Watford Palace Theatre

Christmas 2026 | 29 November 2026 – 3 January 2027

There are plenty of Cinderellas and Aladdins out there, but only one panto Scrooge, and he’s in Watford. Watford Palace Theatre has announced the full lead cast for A Christmas Carol: The Pantomime. Here are five reasons to book.

1. A panto with a difference

In this fresh take on Dickens, Watford’s resident Dame plays all of the Ghosts of Christmas, guiding the grumpiest Watfordian in town, Ebenezer Scrooge, through past, present and future. Expect pop hits, big vocals and plenty of family-friendly mayhem.

2. A much-loved Dame

Terence Frisch, known for Call the Midwife and Last Night in Soho, returns as Dame Dilber for his 14th Watford panto, after last year’s Jack and the Beanstalk. Michael Lambourne plays Scrooge.

3. A strong supporting cast

Anna Tolputt (A Small Light) plays Bob Scratchit, Philippa Carson (Trying) is Boz Scratchit, Nikita Johal plays three roles including Fezziwig, and Lakesha Cammock returns as the brilliantly named JakeBob Marley.

4. From a panto pioneer

It’s written by Steve Marmion, Watford Palace’s CEO and former Artistic Director of Soho Theatre, and directed by James Williams, who has made more than 30 shows with young people.

5. Every seat is £20 if you book now

The theatre has simplified its pricing: every seat is just £20 if you book by 31 October, rising to £25 from 1 November. That’s great value for a family Christmas treat.
