London Food & Drink | Mayfair, from October 2026
Jean-Georges at The Connaught is entering a new chapter, drawing on legendary chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s back catalogue, including dishes from his groundbreaking New York restaurants Vong and Spice Market. Here are five things to know.
1. The Black Plate is back
First created at Vong in 1995, the Black Plate was a dramatic sharing sampler of Jean-Georges’ signature bites. Now reimagined for The Connaught, it features greatest hits like Crispy Salmon Sushi, Chicken Samosa and Raw Tuna in Rice Paper, and it takes centre stage at dinner.
2. A lighter, fresher lunch
The all-day menu has been split into separate lunch and dinner menus. Lunch brings soups, crudo, salads and, for the first time, open-faced toasts. Try the Crispy Squid with papaya and cashews, or the customisable Spicy Thai Slaw.
3. A richer dinner for sharing
In the evening, the menu becomes more indulgent, weaving British produce with flavours from Jean-Georges’ travels in Asia. The “Simply Prepared” section showcases Cornish Lamb Chops, Scottish Blue Lobster and Cornish Dover Sole with a vibrant Sriracha emulsion.
4. A cult cocktail returns
The Pad Pong, a Vong classic of mango nectar and coconut rum Bellini, is back on the menu. Jean-Georges says he hopes to take guests on a trip down memory lane.
5. A nod to Britain too
From Fish & Chips to afternoon tea, the menus celebrate British ingredients through Jean-Georges’ global lens. The new direction is led in the kitchen by The Connaught’s Executive Chef, Ramiro Lafuente Martinez, in a relaxed restaurant overlooking Mount Street.
