5 Films to Book at the Royal Albert Hall’s Films in Concert 2027, Including The Shawshank Redemption

London Music | March – October 2027

There’s nothing quite like watching a great film while a full orchestra plays the score live. The Royal Albert Hall has announced its Films in Concert programme for 2027, and it’s a cracker. Here are five highlights.

1. The Shawshank Redemption (15 May)

The world premiere of the film as a live concert. Benjamin Pope conducts the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra in Thomas Newman’s Oscar-nominated score, with a bluegrass fiddle soloist. The film flopped on release in 1994 but has topped IMDb’s Top 250 for 18 years. Tickets from £45.

2. A Star Wars weekender (29 April – 2 May)

For the first time, you can see the whole original trilogy in concert across a single weekend, performed by the London Symphony Orchestra, who recorded the original soundtracks. Tickets from £45, and they’re on sale now.

3. Whiplash (14 May)

One of the most requested titles in Films in Concert history, for one night only. Composer Justin Hurwitz leads a jazz orchestra, with drummer Greyson Nekrutman taking on the film’s outrageous solos. Tickets from £30.

4. Up and Moana for half term (1 and 2 June)

The June half term brings the UK premieres of Pixar’s Up, with Michael Giacchino’s Oscar-winning score, and Disney’s Moana, with songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda. There are matinee and evening shows, from £30. They go on sale this Friday, 9 October, at 10am.

5. Wallace & Gromit, Titanic and Harry Potter

The series kicks off on Easter Monday (29 March) with Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl, conducted by its composer Lorne Balfe. In October 2027, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (8 – 10 October) and a 30th anniversary Titanic (16 October) return.
