London Halloween | Throughout October 2026
One of London’s most atmospheric markets has a creepy new visitor. A giant jewel beetle has crawled into Leadenhall Market in the City, kicking off a month of strange and spooky happenings. Here are five reasons to visit.
1. A giant light-up beetle
Measuring over 2.5 metres long, the intricately decorated beetle looms above the Market’s Victorian walkways. It’s a striking, free photo opportunity, and the Grade II listed iron and glass roof designed by Horace Jones makes a stunning backdrop.
2. Tiny shops and Halloween spell kits
The Wunderkammer, inspired by German cabinets of curiosities, features three miniature recreations of Leadenhall’s shopfronts, including a tiny video shop celebrating the Market’s starring roles in films such as Harry Potter. Ring the bell at its serving hatch, Wednesday to Sunday from 1pm to 4pm, to pick up a Halloween spell kit from SoLo Craft Fair, packed with herbs, scents and gems.
3. After-dark walking tours
The popular Burials, Bombs & Fantastic Beasts walking tours return for October only, every Wednesday and Friday from 6.30pm to 8pm. Expert guides reveal the stranger side of the area, from Roman burials and medieval murders to witchcraft and weird creatures. Tickets are £8.30 and must be booked in advance.
4. Autumn craft workshops
SoLo Craft Fair is running three seasonal workshops: Autumn Wreath Making on Monday 5 October, Hallo-zine Making on Monday 19 October, and a Halloween Pocket Pumpkin Hand Warmer workshop on Friday 23 October. Prices start from £11.55, and booking is essential.
5. Free weekend markets and great food
Two free Weekend Markets run from 12pm to 5pm: SoLo Craft Fair on Saturday 10 October, and the Vintage Furniture & Flea Market on Sunday 25 October. Refuel with Argentine empanadas from Chango, burgers from Boom Bap Burger, banh mi from Banh Mi Aha, or pastries from Aux Merveilleux de Fred.
