There are few more magical places to start your Christmas shopping than Henry VIII’s palace. The Hampton Court Palace Festive Fayre returns for two weekends this December, with more than 100 hand-picked artisan stalls, seasonal food and live music set in the palace’s magnificent gardens.
Here are five reasons to go.
1. Over 100 artisan stalls
Wander the festive market in the palace gardens and discover unique, hand-picked gifts you won’t find on the high street, from crafts and homeware to jewellery and treats. It’s a lovely way to tick off your Christmas list somewhere far more atmospheric than a shopping centre, and you might pick up something for yourself too.
2. Festive food and drink
From street food and pop-up bars to gooey brownies and custard-drenched crumble, there’s plenty to tempt you. Tuck in as you explore, or pick up something delicious to take home for the festive season.
3. Live music at the bandstand
Live music plays at the bandstand throughout the day, providing the perfect soundtrack to your visit. Stop for a festive bop, or simply soak up the atmosphere with a warm drink in hand.
4. The new Winter Palace
Inside the palace, the brand-new Winter Palace: The Christmas Beast Ball runs from 28 November to 3 January. You’ll journey through spectacular palace rooms brought to life with live performers, puppets and mythical creatures. It’s included in palace admission, so you can easily combine it with the Fayre for a full festive day out.
5. Upgrade to the VIP lounge
The Festive Fayre is included in palace admission, and Historic Royal Palaces members go free. For something extra special, grown-ups can upgrade to the Exclusive Festive Lounge, with complimentary drinks, breakfast treats and a goody bag. The lounge is for over-18s only and needs a Fayre ticket or membership as well.
