Twenty years after “Crazy” took over the world, Gnarls Barkley are coming back to the UK stage. CeeLo Green and Danger Mouse have announced the ‘To Whom It Still Concerns’ Tour, their first UK live shows in 18 years, with four dates in December finishing in London.
Here are five things to know.
1. It’s been a very long wait
Gnarls Barkley last performed together in 2008, the same year they released their second album, The Odd Couple. Since then, both have enjoyed huge solo careers, CeeLo as a singer and Danger Mouse as one of the most in-demand producers around, before reuniting nearly two decades later.
2. “Crazy” made UK chart history
Released in 2006 as the first single from debut album St. Elsewhere, “Crazy” was the first song ever to reach Number 1 in the UK Singles Chart on downloads alone. It went on to spend nine straight weeks at the top, and St. Elsewhere topped the UK Albums Chart too.
3. There’s a brand-new album
Earlier this year the duo released Atlanta, their third album and first since 2008. Named after the city at the heart of both their stories, it reunites CeeLo’s gospel-tinged vocals with Danger Mouse’s rich, genre-bending production, led by the single “Pictures”. Expect the new songs alongside favourites from across their catalogue.
4. London is the grand finale
The tour runs over just five days in December:
- Tuesday 8 December: Manchester Academy
- Wednesday 9 December: O2 Academy Glasgow
- Friday 11 December: University of Wolverhampton at the Civic Hall
- Saturday 12 December: British Airways ARC, London
5. A celebration of “beautiful madness”
CeeLo describes the tour as an open book about life, death and everything in between, and invites fans to come and celebrate the beautiful madness of it all. With only four shows, this is likely to be one of the hottest tickets of the winter.
