The Avenue Q London 2026 revival is now playing at the Shaftesbury Theatre. The award-winning adult puppet musical has returned to the West End with its outrageous humour, familiar songs and a few modern updates. Here are five things to know before booking.
1. What is Avenue Q about?
The story follows Princeton, a recent graduate who moves into a rundown apartment on Avenue Q in New York. Alongside his colourful new neighbours, he attempts to find a job, build relationships, pay his bills and work out what he should do with his life.
The show combines puppets and human performers with songs including If You Were Gay, The Internet Is for Porn, Schadenfreude and There’s a Fine, Fine Line.
2. Who is in the Avenue Q London cast?
Noah Harrison plays Princeton and Rod, while Emily Benjamin appears as Kate Monster and Lucy the Slut. The cast also includes Charlie McCullagh, Oliver Jacobson, Amelia Kinu Muus and Dionne Ward-Anderson.
Original Broadway director Jason Moore has returned for the revival, alongside original puppet designer Rick Lyon. The music and lyrics are by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, with a book by Jeff Whitty.
3. How long is Avenue Q and is it suitable for children?
The running time is approximately two hours and 15 minutes, including an interval.
Avenue Q is recommended for audiences aged 13 and over, with parental guidance advised. Despite the colourful puppets, this is not a children’s musical. It contains strong language, sexual references and adult themes.

The production opened on 20 March 2026 and is currently booking until 3 January 2027. Evening performances generally begin at 7.30pm, with selected Friday and Saturday matinees at 2.30pm.
