5 Things to Know About Cinderella at Esher Theatre This Christmas

Esher Theatre is bringing Cinderella to Surrey for Christmas 2026, with a familiar panto favourite returning and more cast announcements still to come. The show runs from 3 to 31 December 2026.

1. Bobby Davro is returning to Esher

Bobby Davro is back after appearing in Esher Theatre’s 2025 production of Sleeping Beauty. This time he is also helping to write the show with Charlie Swift, so expect plenty of comedy written specifically for the Esher audience.

2. Two familiar soap stars have joined the cast

Gemma Bissix and Ciara Janson, both known for Hollyoaks, are among the first names confirmed for Cinderella. More members of the cast are due to be announced.

3. This Cinderella is being created for Esher

Rather than bringing in a ready made touring production, Esher Theatre is putting together its own version of the classic story. Charlie Swift will direct and produce, with Gioia Gray choreographing and Luis Paul Gray as musical director.

4. It promises all the things you want from a panto

Expect big songs, colourful costumes, slapstick, audience participation and plenty of opportunities to shout back at the stage. It should be a traditional family panto rather than a completely reinvented version of the story.

5. The smaller theatre could be part of the fun

Esher Theatre is much more intimate than the huge London venues, which can work particularly well for pantomime. The performers are close to the audience and the interaction feels much more immediate, especially for younger children.

Cinderella runs at Esher Theatre from 3 to 31 December 2026.
