5 Unusual Things to Do in London This Autumn 2026 – From Murder Mysteries to Cockney Sing-Alongs

London is never short of things to do, but some experiences are harder to stumble across than others.

Brick Lane Music Hall is one of them. This autumn, the venue is serving up a wonderfully eccentric mix of murder mystery, old-school sing-alongs, Rat Pack classics, family storytelling and even line dancing with afternoon tea.

If you fancy swapping the usual West End show or cocktail bar for something with a little more character, here are five events worth knowing about.

1. Solve a murder while watching a musical

The Pleasures of Fanny – A Murder Mystery Musical
2–6 October 2026

A musical comedy. A murder. And an audience expected to work out who did it.

The Pleasures of Fanny is set in post-war 1940s London and begins with the fictional Silvertown Lovies Amateur Group – better known as the SLAGs – performing their latest show.

Then somebody is murdered.

From that point, the audience becomes part of the investigation, following clues, questioning suspects and deciding who they think is guilty.

It sounds gloriously chaotic, and that is very much the point. Period dress is optional too, with prizes for some of the best 1940s outfits.

Tickets start from £45, with afternoon tea, lunch and dinner options available.

2. Join a proper London sing-along

Cockney Sing-Song – 17–19 September 2026
Carradine’s Cockney Sing-A-Long – 20 September 2026

There cannot be many London venues still inviting audiences to sit down and have a proper Cockney sing-song.

Brick Lane Music Hall is doing exactly that in September.

Its own Cockney Sing-Song mixes music, comedy and traditional East End entertainment, while Tom Carradine and his five-piece band The China Plates take over on 20 September.

Expect familiar songs, plenty of audience participation and the sort of atmosphere where joining in is actively encouraged.

The Brick Lane Music Hall performances come with afternoon tea or a three-course lunch, with tickets from £45. Carradine’s Cockney Sing-A-Long starts from £20.

3. Go back to the golden age of Vegas

Rat Pack & Friends – 24–26 September 2026

For a few days in September, Silvertown gets a touch of Las Vegas.

Rat Pack & Friends celebrates the songs associated with Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr, with Judy Garland included too.

Vincent Hayes MBE leads the show, bringing some old-school swing and showbusiness glamour to the Music Hall stage.

You can also make an afternoon of it, with tickets available alongside afternoon tea or a three-course lunch.

Prices start from £45.

4. Take the children to Story Time with Mama G

15 October 2026

One of the more affordable family events on the programme comes from Britain’s Got Talent performer Mama G.

There are three shows during the day at 10am, 11.30am and 1.30pm, with stories centred around being yourself, accepting others and celebrating who you are.

Tickets are just £5–£8, making this a useful one to know about if you’re looking for a reasonably priced London activity with younger children.

It is also a nice way of introducing children to live performance somewhere rather different from the usual big London theatres.

5. Learn to line dance – then have afternoon tea

Country Superstars | Line Dance-Along – 29 October 2026

Country music, line dancing and afternoon tea may not be the most obvious combination, but somehow it makes perfect sense here.

Sarah Jane and Andy Crust perform songs associated with Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers, Patsy Cline and John Denver, while the audience also gets a line-dancing lesson.

The £45 ticket includes the class, the show and afternoon tea.

For anyone who has exhausted London’s escape rooms, rooftop bars and immersive exhibitions, this is certainly another option.

Why Brick Lane Music Hall is worth knowing about

Part of the appeal is the venue itself.

Brick Lane Music Hall is the UK’s only permanent venue dedicated exclusively to year-round British music hall entertainment, keeping alive a mix of live music, comedy, variety and audience participation.

This autumn also brings Sunday performances for the first time, along with a refreshed website and ticketing system as the venue approaches its 35th anniversary.

The season continues into November with There’ll Always Be An England, a wartime music hall show running from 4–6 November 2026.

For Londoners who like discovering places that feel a little outside the usual circuit, Brick Lane Music Hall is one to put on the radar.
