The Ingrid are back with their third single, Lullaby, released on 24 April 2026. It is dreamy, slightly strange and quietly intense — the sort of track that sounds gentle at first, but starts to feel a little darker the more you sit with it.
1. It is not the cosy song the title might suggest
With a title like Lullaby, you might expect something soft and soothing. In a way, it is. But The Ingrid seem more interested in the awkward space between comfort and discomfort.
The song looks at those moments when someone appears kind, understanding or emotionally present, but something does not quite ring true. That gives the track its edge. It is calm, but not completely safe.
2. There is a lovely mix of influences
The band mention The Sundays, Wolf Alice, The Smiths and The Marías as reference points, which gives a good idea of the world Lullaby lives in.
There are dreamy guitars, soft vocals and a hazy atmosphere, but it never feels too neat or pretty. There is enough grit in the sound to make it interesting, and enough emotion to make it stay with you.
3. The Ingrid formed while at university in Chichester
The trio are Jess Charleslyn, Will Hornsblow and Josh Platt, who came together while studying in Chichester.
You can hear the different parts of the band working together. Jess brings the songwriting and vocal intimacy, Will adds guitar lines with a bluesy edge, and Josh’s drumming gives the song a sense of movement without overpowering it.
4. Lullaby fits into a bigger picture
This is the band’s third single, following Limerence and Mother. Those earlier tracks explored obsessive projection, memory and perception, so Lullaby feels like it belongs in the same emotional world.
The Ingrid seem drawn to songs about the things people do not always say out loud — the half-truths, the strange feelings, the little moments of doubt. That is what makes the track feel more personal than a standard indie release.
5. The Ingrid are quietly building something interesting
There is nothing forced about Lullaby. It does not feel like a band trying too hard to make a big statement. Instead, it feels careful, atmospheric and very sure of its own mood.
With talk of a debut album beginning to build, The Ingrid feel like a band worth keeping an eye on. If you like alternative music with a bit of mystery, emotion and atmosphere, Lullaby is well worth a listen.
Lullaby is released on 24 April 2026, with its first public airing on 23 April at 1pm BST via altzoneradio.com.
