If you’re after a fun, easy night out in London with proper belly laughs, 0800 Comedy at Battersea Arts Centre should be on your radar. It’s a monthly comedy night that’s built a bit of a local following — and for good reason. Here’s what you need to know before heading along on Wednesday 9 July.
1. The line-up is always fire
Co-hosted by the brilliant Michael McPheat and Phoebe Taylor, this night champions some of the best new stand-up talent around. They haven’t announced the full line-up yet, but regulars will tell you — the standard is high and the room is always buzzing.
2. It’s a bargain
Early bird tickets are just £5, and general admission is £7. That’s excellent value for a proper night of live comedy in London. You can grab tickets on Eventbrite, and there are usually a few walk-in spots on the night — but if it sells out, you’ll be kicking yourself.
3. It’s hosted inside Battersea Arts Centre
The show takes place in Tom’s Café at the Battersea Arts Centre (Lavender Hill, SW11 5TN). Doors open at 7:30pm and the show kicks off at 8:00pm. There’s no on-site parking, so best to use public transport or plan a drop-off nearby.
4. It’s a proper inclusive space
What sets 0800 Comedy apart is its ethos — they prioritise a safe space for LGBTQ+, gender non-conforming and female-identifying performers. It’s welcoming, it’s supportive, and it’s full of good energy. Even better, they’re donating 20% of ticket profits to the charity Not A Phase, which supports the trans+ community across the UK.
5. You’ll leave smiling (and probably follow them on Instagram)
The vibe is chilled, the audience is friendly, and the acts are consistently funny. If you enjoy the night, follow them over on @0800_comedy — they’ve got a growing community and plenty more laughs lined up each month.
Quick heads-up: Arrive before 8pm or your ticket might be reallocated to walk-ins.
Book your ticket now and make a night of it.
