Who is the New Character in Emmerdale?

FROM ITV STRICT EMBARGO - No Use Before 2025 Emmerdale NEW EMMERDALE FARMER ON THE SCENE Emmerdale welcomes a new female farmer onto the scene played by the esteemed actress Jaye Griffiths (The Bill, Holby, Doctors). When a neighbouring tenant farmer calls on Moira Dingle (Natalie J. Robb) to enquire if she can rent two of her fields, Moira is quick to shrug her off, but this lady, Celia, clearly means business. Celia’s reputation has preceded her as Moira is not keen to do business with this woman, despite bad finances on her own farm. And soon when poor vet Paddy (Dominic Brunt) is brutally attacked and hospitalised by one of Celia’s guard dogs we start to get a measure of her true in colours from her reaction to the attack. Emmerdale fans, brace yourselves — a new face is about to stir things up in the village, and she’s no shrinking violet. Esteemed actress Jaye Griffiths is joining the cast as Celia, a tough, enigmatic new farmer whose arrival is set to ruffle more than a few feathers. Here’s everything you need to know:

1. Celia Is Played by TV Veteran Jaye Griffiths

Jaye Griffiths is a familiar face to British television audiences, known for her roles in The Bill, Casualty, and Doctors. Now, she brings her gravitas and sharp screen presence to Emmerdale in a role that promises to be anything but one-note.

2. She’s Renting a Farm from Kim Tate

Celia arrives in the Dales after taking on a farm on the outskirts of the village — and yes, it’s Kim Tate who’s leasing it to her. That alone sets the tone for a storyline dripping with tension, secrets, and power plays.

3. Moira Dingle Instantly Clashes With Her

When Celia tries to rent two of Moira’s fields, she’s met with a firm “no” — despite Moira’s own financial troubles. Why? Celia’s reputation precedes her, and Moira doesn’t trust her one bit. Expect fireworks between these two strong-willed farmers.

4. One of Celia’s Guard Dogs Attacks Paddy

Things take a sinister turn when poor Paddy Kirk is hospitalised after being mauled by one of Celia’s dogs. Her chilling reaction to the incident reveals a darker side — one that Emmerdale viewers will soon become all too familiar with.

5. Celia’s Past Is a Mystery — For Now

Producer Laura Shaw hints that Celia has “an air of respectability,” but audiences and villagers alike will quickly see “what this woman is truly capable of.” With Celia’s mysterious background and steely personality, expect long-buried secrets and explosive drama.

Celia makes her on-screen debut at the end of June, and it looks like her arrival will be a major shake-up for Emmerdale’s farming community. Keep watching every Friday at 7.30pm on ITV1 and STV, or stream from 7.00am on ITVX and STV Player.
