King Charles III Sails with Uber Boat by Thames Clippers: A Step Towards Sustainable River Transport

Today, King Charles III took to the River Thames aboard the hybrid passenger boat Mars Clipper to witness how Uber Boat by Thames Clippers is steering London towards a more sustainable future. His Majesty’s journey marked a significant moment as the company prepares to launch the UK’s first all-electric ferry this summer.

A Royal Journey on the River Thames

Accompanied by Sean Collins, CEO of Uber Boat by Thames Clippers, King Charles III sailed from Westminster Pier to Blackfriars Pier. The route offered spectacular views of London’s landmarks, including the Houses of Parliament and the London Eye, while showcasing the innovative efforts to reduce emissions on the capital’s waterways.

Pioneering Sustainable Transport

The Mars Clipper is one of three hybrid vessels operated by Uber Boat by Thames Clippers, designed to run on battery power while in Central London. Outside of this zone, the vessels recharge, maintaining their eco-friendly credentials. This summer, the fleet will be joined by Orbit Clipper, the UK’s first electric-powered, zero-emission passenger ferry.

A Shared Passion for the Environment

During the voyage, Mr Collins and The King discussed the environmental benefits of Orbit Clipper and the hybrid fleet. Mr Collins noted that sustainability is at the heart of the company’s strategy, reflecting His Majesty’s long-standing commitment to environmental causes.

A Vision for Greener London Transport

Welcoming King Charles III aboard was a proud moment for Uber Boat by Thames Clippers. Mr Collins expressed his gratitude, saying, “His Majesty is incredibly passionate about sustainability and the environment – issues that we touched on while discussing how Orbit Clipper, along with our hybrid vessels, will make London transport greener and more efficient.”

Leading the Way with Innovation

Uber Boat by Thames Clippers continues to set a benchmark for sustainable transport on the Thames. As the company prepares to introduce the Orbit Clipper this summer, Londoners can look forward to cleaner, more efficient river journeys.
