5 Things to Know About Peckham Fringe 2025

Theatre Peckham’s Peckham Fringe is back and bigger than ever. Running from 1 May to 6 June 2025, this year’s expanded programme takes bold steps in championing local voices and emerging talent. With new venues added and nearly 30 shows in the line-up, it’s set to be one of Southwark’s most exciting cultural events this spring.

Here are five things to know about this year’s festival.

1. It’s shaped by the local community

Peckham Fringe isn’t curated by a closed-off panel — it’s programmed by local ambassadors from the community. Their insight ensures the festival reflects real stories and lived experiences. Expect bold ideas, authentic storytelling, and voices that are often underrepresented on the main stage.

2. There are nearly 30 shows across multiple genres

This year’s line-up includes theatre, dance, spoken word, comedy, and interactive performance. Highlights include Reparations by Maryam Garad, a gripping solo piece exploring obsession and social media; Brains, a dark comedy about two survivors of a zombie apocalypse hiding in an abandoned pub; Street Smart, about a single mum from Peckham with an extraordinary gift for maths; and It’s Your Role, an improvised adventure inspired by Dungeons & Dragons.

3. It’s expanding into new spaces

For the first time, the festival includes performances at Canada Water Theatre, in addition to Theatre Peckham’s main spaces. The expansion across Southwark increases access for audiences and gives more artists the chance to perform in front of local crowds. It’s a welcome step in making fringe theatre more visible and more inclusive.

4. Tickets are affordable

Peckham Fringe keeps prices low, with tickets starting from just £5. It’s a great way to support new talent and discover original work without spending a fortune. From one-woman shows to collaborative dance pieces and spoken word, there’s something for every budget and taste.

5. It’s a proven springboard for future stars

Previous Peckham Fringe productions have gone on to have major success. Tatenda Shamiso’s NO ID transferred to the Royal Court and won the Evening Standard Emerging Talent Award. David Alade’s Sunny Side Up picked up multiple Offie and Black British Theatre nominations. Shows like I Love Acting but F the Industry have sold out more than once.

In short, this festival is where some of tomorrow’s leading theatre voices are cutting their teeth.
