Things To Start Your Morning Off Well
How you start your day matters. And if you can do a few things to kick it off in the right way, then you should. A great example is, hitting the snooze button over and over again – awful start. It gives you small snippets of broken sleep, and you will get more annoyed with each alarm. So, let’s switch it up.
Don’t spend all of those minutes fighting with your alarm about getting up when you know that you have to. It just doesn’t make sense and is a waste of precious time. It might take some time to break the habit, but you can do a few things to help you.
Put your alarm clock outside your bedroom, so you have to get up to go to it
Instead of an irritating beep, choose a song you love
Go to bed when you are sleepy, don’t wait out the hours for no reason
Your body has been busy taking care of itself overnight. Making sure that the little graze on your thumb is healing nicely. That your body is resting and your mind is free to wander for a little while. When you get up, put some good fuel in the tank.
Alongside your coffee, you should grab a glass of water or lemon water. The water will help you on your way to having a hydrated day, as well as waking up your metabolism. Breakfast is a meal that so many people just skip. Unless you grab breakfast in the office and have time to eat it while relaxing, you need to fit a good breakfast earlier in the process. If you are still battling the alarm gremlins, then make your breakfast the night before. Overnight oats are a great option.
There are a few ways that you can do this. You can set up a range of podcasts in your interest area, and while you are enjoying your breakfast, you can take a listen. If you are a lover of current events, like Israeli elections, global warming, business news or even celebrity new then set up some media alerts and program some radio stations to play. Many people consume media via their phone on facebook or twitter, but it is more beneficial for you to get outside of that echo chamber.
If you own your own business, you will probably have to spend a lot of time on this bit. But carefully consider what you need to accomplish in the day. Have a notepad and a pen handy in the area that you usually sit each morning so that you can make bullet points. Many people add too much to their to-do list, so carefully consider what the likelihood is that you can complete what you are putting on there. Ideally, a completed to-do list will give you a sense of satisfaction each time you can turn a page.
Changing how you start your day, will change how your attitude is for the rest of the day too. Starting as positively as possible will give you a nice boost – one that you can hold on to all day.
