The Best Beach –  Woolacombe Beach

One TripAdvisor reviewer who recently visited Woolacombe said they had first visited the beach in 1950, adding:  “I am still coming here and although there are a lot more people now it is still possibly one of the best beaches in Britain, the clean sand, beach huts for hire, three miles to walk the length and fantastic cliff top walks make this a very special place.” Surf Hire, traditional cafes, gift shops and gastropubs keep the holidays makers coming back for more.

The Wildest Countryside – Exmoor 

North Devon’s not all about the coast.  With National Park status and covering over 267 square miles, it’s rolling moorland hills can seem to go on forever until it’s crosses the Somerset boarder and it’s cliffs plunge into the see at Minehead.  Rich in wildlife, miles of walking tracks and quaint villages such as Dulverton and Exford make this area a must for those looking for peace, tranquility and the freedom to park up the VW camper and roam.

The Best Campsite Views – North Morte farm campsite

This family run caravan park, adjoining National Trust land, is only 500 yards from Rockham Beach and set in some of the most spectacular countryside in the south-west. This stretch of the Devon coastline contains many wonderful beaches – some are quite small with their rock pools and cliffs.  North Morte Farm has direct access to the south-west coast path and is only 5 minutes walk from the village of Mortehoe with pubs, shops, Post Office and restaurants. Just remember to pack the levelling chocks for the camper as the site is perched on the edge of a cliff. While not all pitches are flat it worth it for the views.

The Best Fish & Chips – Squires Fish and Chips in Braunton 

Squires fish and chip in Braunton prides itself on doing the classic British dish of fish and chips proud. Not only do they use the freshest fish of the best quality, but they aim to let it speak for itself by covering it in only the lightest of batters (or you can have it unbattered if you’d prefer).  Chips are sizzlingly hot and chunky, and you’ll find all of the traditional accompaniments – from gherkins to mushy peas. But it’s the excellent service and cleanliness which we think really makes them stand out from the rest. Just make sure you arrive early or book to guarantee a quick supper during peak season as it’s as popular with the tourists as the locals often seeing ques out of the door.

The Best kind of Holiday – Waking up to the sounds of nature in a VW camper van of course!

We think there is no better way than to spend your break than waking up to the sound of birdsong and the smell of cooking bacon.  But what makes a VW Camper holidays really special is the freedom to explore and let yourself enjoy the journey of discovering a new place. Camping holidays are what you make of them.  You can choose to ‘rough it’ one day, combing the miles of devon beaches, cooking locally sourced produce over a campfire and watching the sun set from snug warmth of your ‘rock and roll bed’ (thats what camper people call their special folding beds). The next day could find you discovering a country manor and gardens and taking in a fine dining restaurant over looking the harbour, the choice is yours.
